Nine Gates Infantry Commander : ウィキペディア英語版 | Nine Gates Infantry Commander The Nine Gates Infantry Commander () was a military official of the Qing dynasty in charge of safeguarding and monitoring traffic, as well as the opening times of the nine gates of Peking City, namely Zhengyangmen, Chongwenmen, Andingmen, Fuchengmen, Xizhimen, Dongzhimen, Xuangwumen, Dehshengmen, and Zhaoyangmen. His judicial responsibilities included night patrol, fire fighting, security checks of civilians, the apprehension and arrest of criminals, and prison keeping. He was also responsible for the military protection of the Forbidden City.
